Der Wasserbedarf in Deutschland

Water consumption in Germany

Every single day, we consume almost 130 litres of drinking water per person in Germany. Isn't that crazy? Over the course of a year, that adds up to around

47,450 litres – an unbelievable figure.

If we then look at the water requirements for the production of consumer goods, food and clothing per person per day, the figure sounds more than just enormous... 7,200 litres of water per day.

That's why each of us should try to minimise our water consumption. Even small amounts that we can save each day have a very positive effect over the course of a year. Whether washing your hands, doing the dishes or taking a shower, there are plenty of ways to save water. The garden is also an area where water can be saved.

For example, by setting up a rain barrel, we can water our flowers with rainwater instead of using tap water.

Another useful gardening tool is a rain gauge, which shows you how much it has rained. Based on this result, you can then decide whether and how much watering is needed. Forena offers a particularly sustainable option here with the first rain gauge made of silicone. Silicone is dimensionally stable, sustainable and recyclable, can remain outdoors all year round and is therefore a good companion in the garden and on the way to saving water and money.
